Having grown up Catholic and practiced primarily Christian religions as an adult, I am pretty familiar with Good Friday and its meaning, which was largely negative as it focused on the death of Jesus due to our sins. However, since awakening and being on this journey with our Holy Brother, Yeshua/Jesus, I will share a very different perspective about the crucifixion that I’ve gleaned since becoming a student of A Course In Miracles.

Today is Good Friday, a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary 2,000 + years ago. Observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum, it is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Great and Holy Friday (also Holy and Great Friday), and Black Friday.

Other than the crucifixion of Jesus taking place 2,000 years ago, which Jesus does mention in A Course In Miracles, the similarities of the stories ended before they even began.

To best understand the crucifixion message Jesus has for us, through ACIM, we must categorize everything as energy and matter. Einstein’s formula always comes in handy, E=mc2, to make the point that everything is made of energy. All matter/physicality is then a transient expression of the eternal non-physical consciousness that is the essence of God.

In The Course in Miracles, to simplify Truth, Jesus wants us to distinguish what is real and eternal from what is unreal and temporal. What is of God is real, eternal, loving, and made of pure energy. What’s ego is inaccurate because God didn’t create it. It is transient, dense, and elicits fears.

Let’s look at the crucifixion from the ACIM perspective as a perfect mirror of precisely what humanity is experiencing during this Great Awakening, two thousand years after Jesus’s experience on the cross.

Jesus makes it very clear that the crucifixion of old took place because those in positions of authority did not appreciate him telling the men and women of that time that they and God were one. Neither did the authorities enjoy having anyone question the laws that facilitated their rule over these men and women.

Jesus, then and now, through ACIM, has been teaching us that being one with God is what makes us real. Everything that God created, which includes us, is what is eternal. Nothing can threaten it, including impermanent positions of authority.

The crucifixion represented the power many in authority seemed to have over the body, so killing people was a favorite sport for leaders throughout time and well into today.

Jesus used the crucifixion to show that nothing tangible could be threatened. His non-physical Soul/Spirit, being eternal, was not bound to the body and the ego-driven human laws. Jesus crucified the temporary body, external authority, and humanity’s fears.

The resurrection was the ultimate expression of freedom, from the body and the insane world of the human ego, by one who understood God’s Laws. Jesus showed us that the ego-made laws we’ve been conditioned to agree on have no inherent power if not feared, as Jesus demonstrated. The laws of human authorities, when designed to make humans subservient to a few appointed authority figures, are ultimately useless to those who are awake and accept that Jesus already made the last “useless journey” to the cross.

A Course In Miracles gives us the exact steps to train and transform our minds so that we can free our Soul/Spirit today. The steps are still the same as they were when Jesus carried the old rugged cross upon the streets and onto the crucifixion site. However, the pain would be less excruciating if we remember that all that needs crucifying are the same ego-made lies Jesus has been warning us about for thousands of years:

  • The ego lies are always the same because they are always in opposition to God’s truth.
  • If God is one with all that is, the lie is that we are separate, even if we have a unique body to express God’s love and creation.
  • If God is eternal, the lie is that the ego makes us identify with the body to scare us with loneliness, illness, and death.
  • If God made us equal in Its image, the lie is that there are humans who have more power than or are better than others.
  • If God is all-loving, the ego’s lie is that God is wrathful and needs evil human authorities to dish out His punishments to unruly mortals.

Humans have crucified each other since the beginning of time due to lies and selfishness. Once and for all, the time is here for those ready to accept the everlasting truth that ultimately sets us free: we are not bodies but eternal non-physical Spirit having a temporary physical experience.

All we need do is crucify the ego and resurrect the Christ Consciousness within each of us! That’s the message I feel like conveying you this Good Friday!

Accepting God’s truth ends the “useless journeys” of suffering we have been enduring at the hands of our ego and the ego of false authorities.

Here’s an influential segment from the introduction of Chapter 4 in A Course In Miracles:

“The truly inspired are enlightened and cannot abide in darkness.

You can speak from the Spirit or the ego, as you choose. If you speak from the Spirit, you have chosen to “Be still and know that I am God.” These words are inspired because they reflect knowledge.

If you speak from the ego, you are disclaiming knowledge instead of affirming it and are thus dis-spiriting yourself. Do not embark on useless journeys because they are indeed in vain. The ego may desire them, but Spirit cannot embark on them because it is forever unwilling to depart from its Foundation.

The journey to the cross should be the last “useless journey.” Do not dwell upon it, but dismiss it as accomplished. You are also free to join my resurrection if you can accept it as your last useless journey. Until you do so, your life is indeed wasted. It merely reenacts the separation, the loss of power, the futile attempt of the ego at reparation, and finally, the crucifixion of the body or death. Such repetitions are endless until they are voluntarily given up. Do not make the pathetic error of “clinging to the old rugged cross.” The only message of the crucifixion is that you can overcome the cross. Until then, you are free to crucify yourself as often as you choose. This is not the gospel I intended to offer you. We have another journey to undertake. If you read these lessons carefully, they will help prepare you to undertake it.”

There you have it!

I am thrilled that many of our holy brothers and sisters have chosen to awaken. I am witnessing the co-creation of the heaven on earth that brother Jesus told us was ours once we undertake the journey that sets our Spirit free to align with God’s!

Happy Good Friday and the final crucifixion of your ego’s lies and joyful resurrection of the magnificence of the Christ Consciousness that you are eternally made of!
